on free hosting plans many hosting providers put banner ads on top of your page, but on the paid hostings, they don't.

Think of some limitations. Does your hosting provider limits the file size, count of databases, e-mails, FTP accounts, etc. After is time to think
about what happens if you have problems with your hosting.

Think about the support. Is the support center of the hosting provider good?
Do they answer your questions fast, correctly and comprehensible? How can you contact the support? Via some kind of support form, support
forum, live chat, telephone, etc. What time the support is available? Is it only in the day or it is 24/7?
